Participants will learn how to assess what is best for their business when looking for a supplier or distributor overseas and provides specific guidelines on what makes a good trading partner

Your Distribution or Agency agreement

Point by point this section covers key aspects of a distribution or agency agreement and provides the framework from which to complete a legal document

INCO terms

Introduces participants to the important terminology used in international trade with emphasis on the terms most widely used for contractual purposes when importing and exporting

Pricing in International Trade

A step-by-step guide on how to accurately calculate costs when pricing for exporting and how to accurately cost your imported products before they arrive in Australia

Guest speaker – Customs Broker

Participants will hear an experienced customs broker talk about the role they play in the import and export process as well as the role of a freight forwarder

Day Two

Guest speaker – A Chamber of Commerce representative

You will hear about the role the Chamber plays in helping companies develop imports and exports, and the services available through their offices

Import and Export Documentation and Procedures

A comprehensive outline of the import/export documentation process from the moment a contract is signed to the final step of making or receiving payment. Looks at the latest tools and techniques available to prepare and present proper export documentation.

Contracts, forms of payments, letters of credit, and government certification are just some of the areas covered in this module

Guest speaker –Bank

A banking representative will talk about the different forms of import and export finance available, foreign exchange and FX contracts. He will answer questions relating to various forms of payment through the banking system

Trademarks and Intellectual Property

This section covers the important issue of protecting brand names and securing Patents when importing and exporting

Cultural Aspects and lifestyle

Participants will hear about the importance of understanding and respecting protocols in foreign countries as well as the implications for people doing business around the clock.
