Import / Export – an entrepreneurs dream

Starting your own importing or exporting business? Then this workshop is for you!
Corinne Campbell runs Import/Export – Your Own Business with Macquarie Community College and has many success stories to tell as a result.

She has more than 20 years experience in exporting for primary industry giants, and although her main experience was with wool and grain, she has developed a broad knowledge for all types of industries with her consulting business.

Corinne is in high demand with medium to large sized companies, who employ her to assist with their importing processes and contracts.

“I see a lot of potential from the people that enrol in my course. I have some students with strong visions, who know what product they wish to import, and then I have some come to me and say ‘I love everything about Vietnam – what can I import?’ so I help them through the whole process from start to finish,” says Corinne.

“The public think that this is an easy game to play, but there is a lot of research needed to make it a success, and there are many more risks than many people are aware”

Corinne’s course is designed to build awareness of the risks and to create strategies to cover these risks as much as possible.

“A lot of people get half way into this type of business and very quickly realise that they have not done the research and costing to make it a success. I have seen many success stories from my classes, some of them are right up there.”

Corinne has been teaching people about importing and exporting for seven years and she is the author of the Comprehensive Import / Export Manual that you receive for free in the course. When she is not teaching or consulting for businesses she is speaking at networking groups and mentoring young entrepreneurs.

“Teaching is something that I really enjoy. I look forward to seeing the results afterwards. When the students finish the course they are not finished with me. I want them to come back to me with questions and feedback. I like to know that they are continuing with their import/export business, and that I can help them with contacts or answers where they may be struggling.”

“I get a lot of personal satisfaction from seeing them succeed with their businesses, I know that I helped them to get where they are now. I helped them meet their goals” says Corinne with a glowing smile of fulfilment.

Corinne’s courses have triggered a number of thriving importers of food, car parts, tea, children’s clothing, candles, IT products and many other goods. The benefits of the courses at Macquarie Community College are that they are run over two or four weeks allowing Corinne to design the following class to the students needs.

“Having more than one day to plan for allows me to decide what the main needs of the class are. Last week I decided it would benefit the class to have a banker come to class to speak about handling finances and foreign currencies. It was really great to have him provide the most up to date information to the class.”

These importing/exporting successes do not happen overnight. Corinne has emphasised the fact that her course will allow the class members to write an import/export business plan, and assist with progress after the course, but a successful business will take at least one and a half years to set up effectively.

“I am very proud of one particular student who started out by dealing with small quantities of products on e-bay. She had found a product that she was passionate about and I helped her to go bigger and better. She is now dealing with big shipments coming in from Columbia – I can say with confidence that she is going to do very well for herself.”
